| today was fairly depressing... not for any actual sad reasons.. but because auto repairs are fuck-off expensive...
woke up about 2.5 hours earlier than usual to take my car in, as always when beginning an odyssey of car repairingness. got to work 1.5 hours early and killed time in the break room.
the short version... my car is a mess, and is leaking all sorts of places.
so I had repair shop #1 repair the worst oil leak...$236 *POOF* repair shop 1 you ask? WHY YES! i did have to go to 2 different shops today! shop 2 had a warranty on their break work, sop i skipped on over there to get my warped drums/rotors taken care of... but lo and behold.. NOT UNDER WARRANTY! apparently there was a big problem with my back wheel cylinders that was causing my front calipers to clamp onto the rotors...hence extra heat.. hence warping >_< $600 to fix it entirely ;_; so i naturally cheaped out and just had them fix the back (cause) of it all. and replaced one of my front rotors. $325 at shop #2 ;_;
and i still have 2 dry rotted tires to replace Friday.
Nearly $800 inc are repairs ;_; FML!! the whole thing has left me pretty depressed. not what I wanted to spend my savings on!
but I'm telling myself it'll be worth it for the epic road trip to commence shortly after new tires are achieved! LUDO THIS WEEKEND! 2 cities, 36 hours, 2 Ludo shows. yeah it's gonna be pretty sweet. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| People are so fucking stupid.
I use YouTube to listen to songs I don't have or can't find, such as the Star Wars song I linked in my last entry, and "Arthas, my son." The comments therein just....enrage me.
1, Most people think the singer in "Arthas, my son" is a girl. These people have clearly no clue what a Gregorian Choir is, nor have ever heard of Castrati singers (though they don't technically exist anymore, but the origins...the boys...are still used today.) 2, Other folks are making sweeping generalizations about things they know nothing about. For example, the latest gesture of brilliance comes from someone who is stating, as if fact, that the boy singing the song is, in fact, the same boy that gives you some quests about Arthas in Icecrown. THERE IS NO LINK. The little boy in the game is a metaphor for Arthas' heart, since you...you know, BLOW IT UP at the end of the quest-line? And the boy singing the song is an oft-used kind of singer for the entire genre of "epic" music. Sometimes it's little boys, sometimes it's men/women, and sometimes it's a combination thereof. The song wouldn't have the same impact if it were any other kind of singer. It would be like having Marylin Manson singing country.
I swear, people who make comments like that are the kind of people who fuck up the whole world. They say something, their opinion or a suggestion, as if it were a fact backed up by evidence. And then others eat it up without asking for that evidence. And before we know it, the Health Care debate in Washington is stalled because some asshole like Sarah Palin stated the legislation included DEATH PANELS when in fact, nothing even CLOSE to it was ever mentioned. But the whole country is still on pins and needles because the statement was made.
I hate people. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| She's so poised and she answer questions like really answers them. she knows what she's doing and how to market herself. She's incredibly in love with her fan base and her projects. Her career is her life. Love her or hate her you have to admit she's more genuine and serious about her art than most artists are these days. Maybe its because she writes her own music, designs, her own outifts and has a serious hand in all her projects. I wish more famous people were this serious.

| In the ruins of empires, devastated by civil wars and plagues, humanity and the civilized races cling to what little light they can for mere survival. The world has become dark and harsh after being liberated by the strangling Holy Empire of Vannel, but it is said that in the darkest of times… heroes might arise to bring about hope. Could this be the start of such a tale?
So, it’s been a while… but I want to do a play-by-post game. I really could use the distraction and the setting seemed fun and dark. Simple rules: play civilly with each other, write something cool, tell a good story together. Respect the rest of the Limitless board! Beyond that, take the bare bones setting notes I made and feel free to flesh them out how you’d like. Just try and keep with the dark, grim fantasy mood. I invite ALL of you to give it a shot, ‘kay? No dice rolling, fancy character outlines or anything. Just good ‘ole storytelling. Check out the notes on the forum, then drop in and play! You don’t have to make a character outline or wait for approval. Just give it a shot. Playing over here: http://www.bloodknight.net/forum/index.php | comments: Leave a comment |

| Uuggghhh...this Target thing is really wiping me out. I'm only scheduled 5 hours but I'm consistently there for 8, and yet despite working only like...4 days a week, I still find myself lacking the energy (or time) to get anything done on the comic. It's 7am and I only just got home. I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to draw 17 fucking pages and I'm only just now getting around to tracing and scanning them. Granted...I'm not exactly imaginative when it comes to action scenes (ie: I suck at drawing them) so I spend more time glaring at empty sheets of paper than I spend drawing them...but still.
Now, I'm supposed to go to sleep at some point and then call HEB again to try getting my 401k cashed out (I didn't remember my PIN from back in 2007 FFS so they had to mail it to me...thank God they didn't ask to confirm my birthday because those fuckers never corrected it even though I was like "MY BIRTHDAY IS IN MARCH YOU STUPID FUCKS, NOT JULY." like 8 times.) I'm also supposed to call this lady about a job I'm rather hostile towards (but apparently is exactly the same thing as the job I was hoping to get at the state...except it's old people rather than retarded people. I figured the state job was a little different. Oh well.) and see if I can't get on board there so I can leave Target. At this point I'll take anything short of drug dealing and prostitution to get the money each month that I need to pay my bills and keep my cats...and most importantly, retain my "moved out" status. Taking care of old people isn't exactly the first thing on the list of "Stuff Helena Is Likely To Do For A Living" but I don't intend to make it a career or anything. I just need a full time day-job that can hold me over till I get a clerical job of some kind at the state. The state, however, is glacial in terms of speediness so it could be upwards of a year or more before they ever contact me.
But hey, this job with the old people might get me the experience I need to do other things in the medical field. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Anyone know if there's a particular genre name for the epic types of music used in movies and games, where there's Gregorian choirs in the background and big orchestras?
Ex. Liberi Fatali (FF8), Arthas-My Son (WoW: WotLK), Merche Funebre (Hellsing OVA), Dance of Curse/Epistle (Escaflowne), a lot of movie trailers use this kind of music, too.
Edit: Dear freaking God I want to play WoW SO BAD right now. Not only did my folks reactivate their accounts, but now I can't even watch Destination Truth without being reminded of the damn game. Guy goes like "We're on our way to THE NEXUS of sightings" and of course the Nexus is an instance in-game =_= | comments: 16 comments or Leave a comment |
| I feel like such a dirty hypocrite. My end tables, coffee table, bed, and computer desk are all coming from Walmart. I tried... I REALLY DID... so incredibly hard to buy elsewhere... but then what I was looking for would be only on Walmart's site. Damnit I hates them so. Also, Gret had to drag an entire bedroom set in boxes into the house all by herself... I may have a hernia now. ;-;
I should just not sleep tonight... not sleep at all... I have so much to do with work and house. Make some green tea and pull an all-nighter, woot! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Short bulleted entry cuz I'm about to ptfo.
-Drag show up in Denton tonight. -Performed "Get Together" by Madonna and "In My Arms" by Kylie Minogue -Had a blast even though I was nervous and still hate stilettos. -Apparently people liked my performances. :) -A few resident local drag queens said I had good features for drag and one went on to accept me as one of her drag daughters. I'm excited to learn from them and start doing shows with them. Ooooh man. :D Say hello to "Tiffany Morgan" (my drag mother is Lucciana Morgan and one of my sisters is Natalie Morgan). -Apparently I look like a Tiffany. *shrug* -I'm really tired.
Btw, awesome fabric times and chick-fil-a times happened with Sarah today. It was indeed awesome. And epic. Clearance fabric ftw.
PEACE OUT. | comments: 11 comments or Leave a comment |
| ...so, against my (otherwise) better judgment, I ended up just drawing the entire prologue over again. I just can't stand the way it looks right now. I just finished sketching the last page and I'm now rather pleased with how it all looks. I gave Darkas' design a bit of an update since his whole thing is supposed to look like 'a mockery of the Knighthood's vestments' and I forgot to give him a belt before. So...now he has one. Darkas can has belt.
The action looks a lot better now too, as does Gabe in general. The background will be a bit more clear now that I know what all is actually going on at that point in the story. All in all, I think this will refresh the look Chapter 1 really needs. I guess this is what I get for taking like 4 years off from art, eh? I don't think I'll need to go back and change artwork again from here on out. I'm looking forward to some of the non-Order designs I get to do for Ch2 *laughs* Gabe and Ren are supposed to sorta go under cover...but Gabe doesn't always know what it means to "try not to stick out." I plan to give him something KoF11!Oswald-ish. I just can't get enough of that design. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | So I'm watching Kitchen Nightmares again...and it amazes me how no one in the restaurants Chef Ramsay goes to has any idea who he is. I tell you, if I saw the guy walk into a place I'm eating at? First reaction would be something along the lines of "HOLY SHIT." Then, I'd be like "OH MY GOD WHY IS HE HERE?" and puke up all my food =_= | comments: Leave a comment |

ROFL...ahh, Penny Arcade. Dragon Age Origins has been out for like 15 minutes and you're already dissecting how bad it's starting. Good for you. I read some nonsense about it over on /v/ but I wasn't sure what they meant...but now...wow...if they really do that? Shitcocks. | comments: Leave a comment |

| In answer to questions about what tatts I'm getting....
I want to get a few. One would be a rosary on my right fore arm that has my grandmother's name over it.
another one would be on my left for arm with some kind of hebrew phrase on it. I was thinking "I am who I am" or something like that.
why religious tatts? i am not Jewish or catholic but I have my reasons. One I am not catholic but my grandmother's faith is moving to me. She prays for each one of her grandchildren each night and her life has been a sacrifice to her family. I dont believe in saints but if I did I would nominate her.
the Hebrew phrase if for a variety of reasons. one main one being it will kind of remind me of my father who is obsessed with the history of Jewish culture. Contrary to the stereotype of christians not liking Jewish people my father is enamored with their culture and history. How can you not be its fascinating and pervades all our literature and culture in my opinion. Most of my favorite authors, directors and actors are Jewish. I dont know if that makes sense but thats why I'd get the tattoo..
Lastly I'm a fan of religion. I find it fascinating and I am spiritual person. I'm open I love to learn about new things and experience new things. I use to run from the fact that I was religious because of the way people look down on it and judge people for it, but I'm a positive and open person and I think I can attest to the fact that not everyone is like that. You should be proud of who you are and religion is a part of who I am. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| So I took a break from comicing before work since I saw some decent streams on /x/.
Antichrist: Boring, silent, long-as-fuck movie with very occasional wtf-moments. Deer in mid-birth, fox eating itself and turning to say "Chaos Reigns," ball-smashing with log, drilling hole into a guy's leg to put a weight through, and finally cutting off one's own clitoris with scissors. I almost fell asleep during it because all that weird shit was towards the later half of the movie. Weird shit didn't make it good though.
Paranormal Activity: Good build-up, but bad end. That's all I can really say. I am disappoint.
Time to go to work soon. Yay for that. I partially dislike this job because I spend 5 hours doing shit that I end up having to do again because the stockers ruin my work. | comments: Leave a comment |
